Location
South of downtown, on a commuter street
The campus sits on the east side of South Church Street (US 221), about 0.45 mile from Morgan Square in a straight line. Most of downtown's new investment lies north and west of it. Nothing is recorded on the campus's own block.
Getting there
| Item | Record | Status and source |
|---|---|---|
| Distance to Morgan Square | about 0.45 mile, straight line Calculated: Great-circle distance from the parcel centroid (34.94399, -81.92817) to Morgan Square (34.949652, -81.932222). | Calculated: |
| Traffic on South Church St | 16,900 vehicles a day (2024, SCDOT station 175, US 221 from Crescent Ave to E Henry St) | Public record: |
| Public transit | SPARTA Route 4 runs on South Church Street, with a stop about 250 m south of the parcel; transfers are made only at the Passenger Center downtown. Weekday 6 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., no Sunday service. | Public record: |
One bus route with no Sunday service suits a weekday program whose staff or students mostly drive, and a site where some can arrive by bus. It does not make the campus transit-oriented. For a school or training program, parking and drop-off will matter more than the bus.
What is being built nearby, and how far along it is

What this means for the campus
Downtown's investment is real and close. The ballpark is open, and the government center is going up on the same street. Neither makes this block part of downtown. The large figures describe blocks west of Church Street and north of the campus, and several of the projects behind them are still approvals or announcements.
For an institution the useful facts are more modest: a central, legible address; a street carrying 16,900 vehicles a day (2024) past the entrance; one bus route; and downtown services within a short drive.
